Northern lakes and villages
Focus on Kanas and Hemu, allowing for park transfers and accommodation locations. Before continuing to Ili, plan full transfer days and intermediate stays, potentially via Kuitun. Do not combine departure from Hemu and Duku sightseeing into a presumed single day.
Ili lakes and grasslands
Choose priorities among Sayram Lake, Yining, Huiyuan and Nalati, then set the order around actual roads. Confirm flower viewing, riding and lake transport separately; different seasonal landscapes are not assumed to occur together.
Urumqi and Turpan
Consider Tianchi, Turpan heritage sites and city culture as another direction. Name the intended cave site: Bezeklik and Kizil in the Kucha area are different places. Select visits around access and transport.
Duku Highway: seasonal extension
Discuss a section only after adjacent overnight stops, transfers and applicable access conditions are clear. The 2026 notice specifies passenger vehicles of up to seven seats on sections including G217 Wusuyi–Kuruli; recheck for the travel date and plan an alternative avoiding Duku.

Check the exact Duku Highway section, access times and registered vehicle seating against official road notices for the travel date. The 2026 opening notice specifies passenger vehicles with no more than seven seats on sections including G217 Wusuyi–Kuruli. The stated group-size range does not mean a single large vehicle can use the road. If access is unavailable, confirm the alternative route, accommodation and cost changes first. Grasslands, flowers and autumn colors are not guaranteed together.
