In the morning, head to Dujiangyan and visit the three engineering marvels — the Fish Mouth water divider, Flying Sand Weir spillway, and Precious Bottle Neck channel — and marvel at the water-management genius of Li Bing and his son over 2,000 years ago. In the afternoon, drive to the Jiuzhaigou valley entrance, enjoying the magnificent landscapes of western Sichuan's high plateau along the way. Overnight near Jiuzhaigou.

In the morning, head to Huanglong Scenic Area. Ride the cable car up, then walk down along boardwalks through the highlight attractions including Five-Color Ponds and Huanglong Temple. Five-Color Ponds are the crown jewel of Huanglong — thousands of calcified pools in brilliant hues cascade down the mountainside like a scene from a heavenly realm. Return to Chengdu in the afternoon. Overnight in Chengdu.

In the morning, visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding for close-up views of pandas munching bamboo and frolicking. Then explore Wuhou Shrine and immerse yourself in the profound culture of the Three Kingdoms era. In the afternoon, shop and explore the fashionable Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li commercial districts. At dusk, stroll through Kuanzhai Alley and experience Chengdu's famously unhurried pace of life. Overnight in Chengdu.

In the morning, take the bullet train to Chongqing. Upon arrival, visit Ciqikou Ancient Town and soak in the traditional Bayu marketplace atmosphere. Then head to the Liziba viewing platform to watch the light rail train pass straight through a residential building — a surreal sight. In the afternoon, explore the Shibati old neighborhood and feel the authentic pulse of old Chongqing. At dusk, wander through Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, then visit Hongyadong at night, where its glittering illuminated levels evoke the fantastical world of Spirited Away.

In the morning, visit Dananshi Old Street, a century-old thoroughfare that reflects Chongqing's treaty-port heritage. Then head to the Nanbin Road Bell Tower Plaza and admire the magnificent confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. Explore Xiahaoli Old Street and experience the unique hillside lane character of the Mountain City. At dusk, board the Two Rivers Ferry and take in Chongqing's dazzling nightscape from the water. Chongqing does have many slopes and stairs, but our itinerary takes this into full consideration — the selected attractions and routes are relatively easygoing. Ciqikou and the Mountain City walkways have gentler alternative paths. The pace is moderate, and seniors can absolutely participate. However, we recommend that elderly visitors with mobility challenges bring a walking cane for assistance.
